| We were filled with excitement the moment Sony took the wraps off of its Dash personal internet viewer back at CES, but after learning that this was less of a tablet and more a sophisticated widget machine for in-home use, our joviality was understandably squashed. Today, Sony has given the doubters a reason to perk back up and pay attention, as the April-bound device will ship with the ability to stream Watch Instantly content from Netflix. As if that wasn’t enough, Demand Media will also be offering Dash-tailored portals to content from eHow, Golflink and Livestrong.com, and it’ll have no issues streaming “online music videos, television, or film content on-demand” to the 7-inch touchpanel. Still not convinced that this thing is worth $199? It’s just an external battery mod away from greatness, you know! |

| Feel like making your own 3D movie? That 3D camcorder and the bucket of blue paint alone won’t be enough — consider Panasonic’s new BT-3DL2550 3D production monitor. This 1920 x 1200 IPS display relies on an Xpol filter for the 3D magic through passive polarizing glasses (like the ones in the 3D cinemas; two pairs included), and sports two HD-SDI ports plus a DVI-D socket — both are for jacking your beastly video processing rigs, while the former also take direct feed from professional HD cameras. Little else is known about this professional Panny screen, but given the jaw-dropping $9,900 price we’d expect a pretty impressive stat sheet when it comes out in September. |

| We got a few minutes today to check out the latest build on Notion Ink’s Adam prototype that we first saw back at CES. Like we heard a week or so ago, there will indeed be two versions of the Adam — one which will be 12.9 mm thick and boast the Pixel Qi 3Qi e-paper screen, and another, thinner, non-Pixel Qi screen. The thinner, lighter version will measure in at 11.6 mm thick. As far as we know, the only difference in the two Tegra-powered Adams will be the display, and we also hear they are shooting for a third quarter of 2010 launch. The prototype on hand at MWC was not working, so one of the Adam’s developers was kind enough to shoot a demo video of a working unit for us (and its Flash support) — which is after the break. |
